πŸ“– SWP Rules for Nepal Mutual Fund Investors

  • SWP (Systematic Withdrawal Plan) lets you withdraw a fixed amount regularly from your mutual fund corpus. The remaining amount continues to earn returns at the prevailing NAV.
  • In Nepal, SWP is available in open-ended mutual funds regulated by SEBON (Securities Board of Nepal). Applicable funds: Nabil Flexi Cap, NMB Sulav, NIBL Sahabhagita, Laxmi Equity, Siddhartha Equity, and others.
  • Redemptions processed within T+3 working days at the prevailing NAV on redemption date.
  • Minimum SWP amount varies per fund. Check with your registrar (NIBL Ace Capital, NMB Capital, Nabil Invest, etc.).
  • Capital gains tax applies on each redemption per Nepal Income Tax Act. Consult a financial advisor for tax planning.
  • Perpetual SWP: If your corpus earns more interest than you withdraw each period, the corpus will never deplete and may even grow over time.

⚠️ For illustration only. Actual returns vary with market conditions. Not financial advice. Read all scheme documents before investing.

How to use SWP Calculator

Here are the well details steps to be followed while using the SWP Calculator.

Step 1: Enter Your Initial Corpus (NPR)

First, you have to enter the total lump sum amount that you currently want to or have invested in your Mutual Fund. You can either type your exact total (like Rs. 1,000,000) directly into the text box or use the slider to adjust the amount. It’s the total which you want to invest and use as a collatoral and investment (both) to get returns, including the monthly withdrawal.

Step 2: Set Your Monthly Withdrawal (NPR)

Now Decide how much regular income you want to pull out of your investment. Enter the specific amount you need to withdraw each period (for example, Rs. 10,000) using either the text box or the slider tool.

Step 3: Input the Expected Annual Return (%)

Estimate the yearly growth rate of the money left sitting in your fund. If you aren’t sure what to put, remember that open-ended equity mutual funds in Nepal have historically earned between 10% and 15% annually. You can type in a realistic percentage (like 12%) or use the slider.

Step 4: Select Your Withdrawal Frequency

The most important part of this SWP plan is withdrawal. For this, you can use the dropdown menu to choose how often you want to receive your payouts. For most open-ended funds managed by Asset Management Companies (AMCs) in Nepal, “Monthly” is the standard setup and typically processes within a T+3 NAV redemption window.

Step 5: Hit Calculate!

At last, once all your numbers are locked in, click the big blue “πŸ’° Calculate SWP” button at the bottom. The calculator will then process your data and show you how long your funds will last!

That’s all. In Corpus Lasts, you will see the complete details and breakdown of your SWP using our SWP Calculator.
