Who I Am
I am Basanta Limbu, a banker currently working at ‘A’ Class Commercial Bank. I am the person behind SIP Calculator NP. I built this free SIP Calculator tool to help Nepali people easily understand SIPs, Mutual Funds, savings, and daily money management decisions.
Although I am not a licensed investment advisor. I work in Nepal’s banking and financing system daily and turn that learning and experience into tools that make it easy for every investor and anyone who aims to save or invest for the future.

My Banking Journey
NIC Asia Bank — Intern (Belbari Branch)
March – May 2021
My formal banking journey started with a two-month internship at NIC Asia Bank, Belbari Branch. Although it wasn’t what I was willing to do, someone offered it to me, so I couldn’t decline it. I was in extreme learning and facing a financial crisis. So, that short work at NIC Asia Bank helped me learn the basics — how a branch works, how customers are served, and what day-to-day banking really looks like on the ground.
That experience shaped a clear goal for me: to become a banker who serves people honestly and helps uplift their financial lives.
The Gap Years (2021 – August 2023)
Between my internship and my full-time banking job at Nabil, there was a gap of more than 2 years. Before and after the internship, I worked as a content writer and blog creator across different niches (blog categories), including finance, mobile, how-to tutorials, and general topics. During the online working phase, I built and managed websites, learned SEO, researched, and developed the ability to explain and write complex topics in simple language.
As I said, that phase was full of struggle for me. At the same time, I was:
- Pursuing my Bachelor’s degree at Sukuna Multiple Campus
- Trying to earn online and keep learning
- Preparing for a stable, full-time banking career
Balancing study, online work, and career preparation was challenging for me. As a result, in the 2nd Year of the Bachelor’s Degree, I failed many subjects, and although my Bachelor’s Degree was completed 2 years earlier (in 2024), I still have partial exam for 2nd Year. So, it takes me 2 more years to complete the degree. But that period taught me discipline, consistency, and mental strength – skills I still use today on the SIP Calculator NP Site.
This isn’t just a site; it’s an asset I built through my failures, sacrifices, and eagerness to learn.
Nabil Bank — Operations Department
On 11 August 2023, I officially joined Nabil Bank in the Operations Department, where I still work today.
Working here has given me a much closer view of banking — not from articles or theory, but from real daily work:
- Customer service & way of catering to them
- Cash and operational processes
- Marketing and customer-facing communication
- Saving, investing, and portfolio-related concepts
- How banking products and services actually function in practice

With this hands-on experience, I will express myself clearly and address a demanding topic for the public. That’s why I built SIP Calculator NP. To ensure every Nepali investor has the tools and guides grounded in how finance really works in Nepal, I built this, which is fully based on the Nepali market and not copied from other Indian or international sites.
Why I Built SIP Calculator NP
When I started investing in mutual funds and planning my own SIP 3-4 years ago, I couldn’t find an exact calculator that matched the rupee and Nepali market policies. Most of the calculators found online are from Indian banks and investment companies, which do not comply with NRB Compounding rules and NEPSE/SEBON Context. So, I planned to do so at that time, but I was not as aware of all of this as I am now.
So I combined two things I know well:
- Banking and personal finance (from my job and my own investing)
- Web development, writing, and SEO (from years of building blogs)
The result is SIP Calculator NP — free calculators and guides made specifically for Nepal.
I also run CalculatorNP.com, a broader financial calculator platform for Nepal.
What I Believe
Financial literacy shouldn’t be limited to people who already understand banking jargon. A salaried worker in Belbari, Biratnagar, or Kathmandu should be able to see, in plain numbers, how a small monthly SIP can grow over 10 or 20 years.
That’s why I (Basanta Limbu), the person behind this, keep this site free, accurate, and focused on the real Nepali financial context. Also, I have added more financial calculators, like the Step-Up Calculator, Lumpsum mutual fund investment calculator, RD, FD, and more, which may be useful for you too.
A Note on Trust & Accuracy
Being a banker, Compliance is always the priority. So, I cross-check calculator logic against Nepal-specific practices- quarterly compounding for RD/FD (NRB standard), mutual fund SIP formulas, and realistic planning assumptions. If you ever find a result that doesn’t match your bank or fund statement, please email me at classytechstudio@gmail.com. I treat accuracy reports seriously.
